Utility ROV Services were contracted by Boskalis to conduct mattress installation and boulder relocation operations on the Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm, located in the southern North Sea.

Utility ROV Services performed three key operations:

  1. Gas Export Pipeline Identification Survey
  2. Mattress Installation
  3. Boulder Relocation

In order to perform the gas export pipeline identification survey, Utility ROV Services utilised a TSS440 Pipe Tracker from a third-party supplier. An interface frame to allow mounting of the TSS440 to the UTROV® was designed and manufactured in-house at short notice and delivered in time to satisfy the project mobilisation date. The UTROV® and TSS440 were operated in 18 runs, each perpendicular to the gas export pipeline.

Once the pipeline had been identified, mattress installation operations were performed using Utility ROV Services’ newly modified Mattress Installation Frame (MIF) to provide protection to the pipeline beneath.

Finally, a boulder relocation campaign was conducted using the UTROV® equipped with the Tine Grab, where 1514 boulders were successfully relocated within the Triton Knoll Export Cable Routes and Inter-Array Cables.
