Utility ROV Services were contracted by Hughes Sub Surface Engineering Ltd to conduct boulder relocation operations on the Rampion OWF in the English Channel for a total of 323 days.

The project requirements were as follows:

Perform route clearance on the cable lay routes, turbine monopile locations and the jack-up installation vessel areas “footprints” without creating any large boulder deposits in any one area.

The scope of work has included both boulder relocation operations and 2D imaging sonar surveys. This extended to include visual survey of potential unexploded ordnance.

The system carried out 24-hour operations and currently holds the record for the most boulders cleared for our client in a single 24-hour period.
