Utility ROV Services were contracted by Hughes Sub Surface Engineering Ltd to conduct boulder relocation operations on the Wikinger OWF in the Baltic Sea for a total of 78 days. The project requirements were as follows:

Perform route clearance on the cable lay routes, turbine monopile locations and the jack-up installation vessel areas “footprints” without creating any large boulder deposits in any one area.

The scope of work included both boulder relocation operations and 2D imaging sonar surveys, some of which was carried out in environmentally sensitive “Biotope” areas. The UTROV® system was used to ensure that boulders were relocated in the same orientation as they were collected with minimal disruption to the surrounding marine life.
