Utility ROV Services were contracted by Asso Subsea to perform a boulder relocation campaign in Vattenfall’s Danish Kriegers Flak Offshore Wind Farm. In this case, boulder relocation was required to enable the installation of a large number of WTGs. The Astrea, a DP2 vessel from Asso Subsea’s own fleet, was utilised for the boulder relocation campaign and was mobilised with the UTROV® System 2 spread and Tine Grab. For this project, the preferred launch and recovery method was via URS’ newly refurbished Lebus Winch, a purposed built HPU and Tekmar A-Frame. This project marked a first for this combination of LARS equipment which successfully relocated some 3500 boulders at 68 WTG locations.
