What is Mattress Recovery?
Mattress recovery is the removal of flexible concrete mattresses from the seabed. These have been used as protection and stability for subsea pipes, cables and structures. Many decommissioning projects have large numbers of mattresses to be removed.
Mattress recovery has posed a significant challenge to the offshore decommissioning industry both with regards to safety and commercial viability.
How can Utility ROV Services help with Mattress Recovery?
Utility ROV Services have designed and commissioned the build of a Mattress Recovery Tool (the MRT) capable of recovering mattresses without compromising the safety of personnel or the environment.
The use of the UTROV coupled to the MRT provides a diverless alternative to current practices and facilitates the use of a lower cost vessel.
Because of our unique load bearing ROV (the UTROV) we can easily interchange the Tine Grab and MRT during the operation in order to provide our customers the most cost effective method for mattress recovery.
